Her Journey

A career shaped by medicine, people and service.

Dr Zama Ramagaga comes from the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast and matriculated at Deutsche Schule Hermannsburg. She went on to study medicine at Stellenbosch University, qualifying with her MBChB in 2012.

Her internship at Ngwelezana Hospital in KwaZulu-Natal was followed by community service in Bethal, Mpumalanga. Following her internship and community service, Dr Ramagaga continued her postgraduate career in Gauteng, progressing through internal medicine and later cardiology training associated with Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria.

    SA Heart National Journal Club

    While a cardiology fellow at Steve Biko Academic Hospital, Dr Ramagaga presented two cases of thrombosed prosthetic valves with different outcomes, discussing the relevant literature and treatment considerations.

    SASCI–Mayo Clinic Cardio Fellows Summit Webinar

    Dr Zama Ramagaga participated as one of the local cardiology Fellow panellists in the SASCI–Mayo Clinic Cardio Fellows Summit Webinar held on 22 April 2024. The teaching session focused on invasive assessment and management of pulmonary embolism.
